Prey Pros

The village of Prey Pros, located in Kampong Thom province, exudes authentic Cambodian charm. It is situated just 16 km northwest of Kampong Thom, the capital of the province. For years, this village has developed thanks to tourism by capitalizing on its picturesque and natural appeal, even though it is located in a province primarily known to travelers for the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sambor Prei Kuk, which is on par with Angkor and Preah Vihear.

Tourist activities tailored to the environment

A natural and preserved area calls for activities in harmony with the environment and nature. At Prey Pros, you will be sure to experience just that. It can be a great stop for a few days before continuing on to other adventures in the kingdom. Rest, discovery, and observation – you will have plenty to keep you entertained during your stay.

Walking and cycling tours

The picturesque side of Prey Pros will encourage you to take a walk around the village lake. The dirt paths offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including endless rice fields, alluvial forests, stilt houses, and massive palm trees. You will discover all the hallmarks of authentic Cambodian countryside.

The area also hosts many foot races and cycling events throughout the year, especially during national holidays. It would be quite fitting to spend two or three days here during Khmer New Year in April or Pchum Ben in October.

Enjoying Prey Pros lake

The village, crossed by National Road 6 connecting Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, is split in two by an eponymous lake: Prey Pros Lake (Boeng Prey Pros). It is possible, with a guide, to fully enjoy this majestic lake. You can embark on a pleasure boat for a morning or afternoon to contemplate the aquatic nature of the area. You can bring a picnic to enjoy while spending time on the water. There's nothing stopping you from swimming, especially if you visit during the dry season – just be cautious of sunburns during this time.

Finally, ask your guide to find a captain who can fish with you. This is a major activity in Cambodia, and you can always try to catch more fish than him… Good luck!
