Experience a homestay in Sambor Prei Kuk

Located about 40 minutes from Kampong Thom city, within a peaceful forest setting, the Sambor Prei Kuk archaeological site is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The ancient city has left behind a valuable collection of temples—although in ruins, they hold significant cultural importance in Cambodia's history.

The Isanborei organization aims to develop tourism around this priceless heritage, benefiting local communities. Guides greet visitors at the ancient entrance near Prasat Sambor. Homestays are also part of the program for those seeking an authentic experience in direct contact with local people. Host families live in the seven Khmer villages surrounding the historic site. The accommodations are basic but comfortable, with clean and functional sanitary facilities. You can share a room with other guests or book a private room, depending on availability. The hosts have learned English to facilitate communication.

Stay in comfortable accommodations

Don’t be misled; the accommodations in the villages are of very good quality and include all the necessary amenities for your comfort, including access to potable water and electricity. The area has good mobile phone coverage, and in some homes, Wi-Fi is available. Depending on your needs, you can book one to three rooms. Beds, mattresses, sheets, blankets, and pillows are provided. Mosquito nets are also available to protect you from insects. Depending on the house, the sanitary facilities include either Western-style or local-style showers and toilets. Outside, there are parking spaces available for cars and motorcycles.
